The owners of PoboyMan.com are South Louisiana through and through. Darryl & Renee Taylor were born in the same town, Mandeville, Louisiana. Mandeville is located just north of New Orleans on the shores of Lake Pontchartrain and Bayou Castine.
Darryl's (PoboyMan) family owned a local independent grocery store. As a young boy, his family often ate meals at the grocery store - of course, many times Poboys! This is probably where PoboyMan.com truly started its beginnings.
Later in life PoboyMan always dreamed of opening his own business and his own style of New Orleans / South Louisiana Poboys and more. So, on January 2, 2001 Darryl and Renee opened their own restaurant, "Darryl's" offering "Real & Authentic" Poboys and more to their customers. The main poboys are the classic "Roast beef" (always home cooked, sliced thin, drenched in gravy and piled high!), Ham (always the local favorite Chisesi Brand Ham), Catfish, Shrimp and Handmade Hamburgers. A big local favorite is also the Muffaletta (pronounced muffa lotta by PoboyMan) which is an Italian style local sandwich.
Darryl & Renee established a loyal clientele and were doing fine until August 29, 2005 when Hurricane Katrina destroyed their building but not their drive to succeed. Seven months later, Darryl's reopened at a new location with many family and friends eagerly waiting.
The community had lost and gained many people because of the hurricane. Many people displaced were looking for Poboys and more but were unable to get these items in their new homes across the United States.
So, we said why can't we get it to them; we'll ship it! So, therefore PoboyMan.com came to life. People from over the continental US can receive a shipment of the "Real & Authentic" ingredients to assemble a New Orleans / South Louisiana Poboy and more.
Your package will be delivered to your door & include all the items needed to make a Poboy (Roast beef, Poboy Bread, Gravy, Lettuce, Tomatoes, Pickle) Muffaletta's and more!! Each shipment comes vacuum packed separately to ensure utmost freshness. What a great way to get a taste of New Orleans / South Louisiana!!
